Committee Work

Breaking the Silence currently has six local committees found in Antigonish, Fredericton, Halifax, Prince Edward Island, North Shore and Toronto. These committees are the heart of BTS in Canada, and each committee works to promote the struggle for social justice in Guatemala in different ways. Most local committees meet regularly to write urgent actions and plan educational activities in their community, while some others are active members of the Accompaniment and Advocacy Committees. Most contribute to the finances of BTS and host fundraisers to help with a slew of activities.

Once a year, BTS volunteers and members of local committees come together to discuss current issues, hear from Guatemalan partners, plan for the future and celebrate as a community. Check out this report back on our last AGM and join us for the next one!
